Thomas J. Wieckowski

Tom Wieckowski is Vice-President of the Old York Road Historical Society and a member of the Cheltenham Township Historical Commission.  He has been a resident of Wyncote twice, dating back to 1944. Washington, D.C. was his home for ten years where he received his Ph.D. in Higher Education from The Catholic University of America. He recently retired from Drexel University in Philadelphia after thirty years where he was Associate Dean of the College of Business, Director of Masters Programs in Business, and Asst. Professor of MIS, among other positions.  He is the author of several database management software packages and has consulted for numerous non-profit and educational organizations. Among the projects that Tom considers his most enjoyable are the development of the world's first floppy-disk-based higher education marketing software, "Windows on the World", for the Enrollment Management Office at Drexel in 1990. He also is responsible for the conception, design and development of one of the first online graduate programs in Business, MBAOnline, in 1998. Historical research and writing currently occupy his time and he is the author of Making Marathon: A History of Early Wyncote, published in 2009, and A Spectacle for Men and Angels (with David I. Harrower), just published by Infinity Press. Tom lectures frequently on topics of local history to church groups, schools, civic and community organizations.
